The Nuclear Power Institute (NPI), Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen, the Rio Grande Valley Science Association, and the NASA Texas Space Grant Consortium are beginning collaboration discussions about hosting a Science on Saturday (SOS) event on Saturday, March 5, 2022. This past Friday, August 6, Dr. Valerie G. Segovia, NPI Associate Director, and Gianna Colson, NPI Program Specialist, traveled to the impressive Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen campus to meet with Dr. Adolfo G. Santos, Assistant Provost, to discuss the collaboration and tour facilities.

SOS is designed to encourage enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and ignite an interest in experiments while providing hands-on activities and demonstrations on a variety of STEM topics. Past events have included activities related to robots, virtual reality, building and structural challenges, health science, and aerospace engineering, among others. All K-12 students, parents, educators, and community members are invited to participate in this program. NPI is growing our programming and stretching across the State of Texas.
