On Thursday, September 16, and Friday, September 17, the Nuclear Power Institute (NPI) and Nuclear Engineering & Science Center (NESC) were honored to host Director-General of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), William D. Magwood IV, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation, Office of Nuclear Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy, Aleshia Duncan.

DG Magwood and Deputy Assistant Secretary Duncan flew to College Station to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the NESC TRIGA reactor and get updates on the NPI and NESC programs, efforts, and research at Texas A&M. The two days were packed with tours, meetings, and seminars for our guests. NPI also had the pleasure of reuniting DG Magwood and Deputy Assistant Secretary Duncan with students they met in years past at different NPI events and a VIP Dinner with guests from the South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC), Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, Texas A&M University, and many others.

NPI was fortunate enough during this visit to get an interview with DG Magwood for the Path of Most Persistence Podcast. NPI Director, Dr. Sean McDeavitt, and NPI Associate Director, Dr. Valerie G. Segovia, hosted this podcast, which will be released in December 2021.
