Tilly Loves TRTLs
(Tiny Readers are Tomorrow’s Leaders)
The “Tilly Loves Tiny Readers are Tomorrow’s Leaders” (TRTLs) story and video series endeavors to enhance Pre-K to 2nd grade outreach programming focusing on early workforce development awareness while encouraging reading and curiosity. This series acknowledges the importance of reaching children during their educational foundation years when reading fluency and comprehension attainment are vitally important, setting the trajectory of students’ success into adulthood and ultimately affecting their workforce opportunities. This series of seven stories and videos is intended to be encouraging, inspiring and aspirational of the “What I can be when I grow up?” possibilities.
Our program aims to engage and encourage young people to discover our “Tilly Loves TRTLs” story and video series by first initiating a multi-strategic launch approach meant to build anticipation from diverse audiences from Pre-K-12 schools, communities, families, industry, higher education and state agencies.
“World Read Aloud Day”
On February 7th, NPI collaborated with the Texas A&M Becky Gates Children’s Center and the Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center – CSCC to celebrate “World Read Aloud Day.” This celebration was to promote outreach to children from Pre-K to 2nd grade, with a focus on developing early workforce skills while encouraging reading and curiosity. We would like to express our gratitude to the Texas Workforce Commissioner Alberto Treviño III, and the Director of Workforce Education Initiatives for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board , Vanessa Malo, for joining our celebration and interacting with the young audience and reading to them at the children’s centers. It was particularly impactful that NPI’s Tilly received books written about her from the children themselves. This is what it’s all about — inspiring, motivating, and encouraging young Texans!
